About

You can quickly find and book your nearest Co wheels car club vehicles using our app. Co wheels is the biggest independent car club operator in the UK - we have more than 600 cars in 60 towns and cities across the UK. They are available to book instantly 24/7 on streets across the UK for as little as half an hour or for several days. Now you can use our app to find your nearest cars, search your bookings and make new bookings on the spot. No need to worry about fuel or insurance - it is all included in the booking price.

Recently the app has started closing whenever I try to amend an in progress booking. Also it's really frustrating that when you press the back button on your phone it exits the app rather than going to previous menu meaning you have to start the booking process over. Makes it well fiddly when you're choosing between a few different cars. Generally the app works fine though and the vehicles, service and car club concept is excellent.

The app is not bad but there are some improvements that could be made. The app completely exits upon using the phone back button (rather than going to the previous screen) which is very frustrating when trying to make a booking. You then need to start the entire booking process again. Would be helpful to see the fuel/charge levels of a vehicle when booking. Have had too many experiences where I've booked a car and there has been no charge in it at all rendering the entire booking useless.

Excellent car club. Great for short trips as little as 30 mins.Easy to book and use electric & hybrid cars- usually located in an easily accessible spot. I have been a member for many years now. Also links with other car clubs in UK so can be a cheap alternative to taxis on UK hols if travelling by train. Est.Cost given before booking. TIP: try to book the car nearest to your bus route home. Not always possible but if you need a taxi to collect / or get home probably cheaper to hire instead.

It would be really really useful if it was possible to look at a car and see it's availability. I often need a car for an hour or so in the next few days, but it doesn't really matter when. It would be much simpler to be able to see when the cars near me are available and out of that choose the best time for me, than to input a (rather random) time window and see if any cars are available

The app itself is easy to use but the Co wheels club itself has gone down hill drastically! They have taken cars out of rural areas which need them most and are only do city's now the prices have gone up to match the new places ment to be a club to help the less fortunate be able to get on the road but is just another rich company looking out for their friends. and the customer service is shocking they tell you completely different things to what they tell you they will.

App is decent, although it has some annoying features (e.g. clicking on "back" exits the app altogether). The overall service is terrible. You have to book cars days or even weeks in advance, so forget spontaneous 'I need to go to the supermarket now' trips. Customer service is nice, but they can barely be reached and if they do, they reply at 3am, so every exchange takes days.

Constantly crashes when looking at your bookings. You shouldn't need the smart card only to unlock the car; the app should be able to do this too. Current costs of car hire and fuel run only just a tiny bit cheaper than taxis, and my nearest car is 20 mins walk away now as my closest one was taken away. Will probably use another car club app as a result.

App is simple & fast, works well, there's a couple of suggestions I'd make. I'd like it if the map didn't zoom out every time I clicked back after looking at a car. I also don't know what the different colour logos mean, could there be a key? Going forward Id love it if my phone could unlock the car, not just the card, I'm nervous about losing the card!

I write this in hopes the company see and make improvements - this app is terrible. It doesn't have basic functionality compatible with how phones are used e.g. if you press back instead of taking you to modify your search it just exits the app and forces you to start again. Also there is no filtering e.g. if I need an estate car I have to click every individual car to find out what it is. If you see a car is only available some of the time you search there is no easy way to book that time.

  • Clare Halliday

It's usable when you know what you're doing. My main problem is it doesn't show what type of vehicle on the map, only availability. Another annoying thing is if a vehicle is only available for part of your search time, you have to do another search, it won't let you just book the time it's available with your original search.

One of the "buggiest" apps I've ever used! Whilst I love the whole co-wheels concept, their app is a nightmare experience. Frequently fails to even load the menu; frequently fails to extend bookings; has no in-app notification so instead relies solely on spamming your inbox; always lets you down when you need it (like when your booking is about to run out and you need to extend it). Feels like it underwent zero user acceptance testing or even basic dev testing before release.
